prop 8 upheld; protests across the country

I was too busy packing on Tuesday to write about Prop 8, but you have probably heard that it was upheld by the CA State Supreme Court (although the existing marriages were not invalidated.)

The good news is that people across the country seemed to react combatively and confidently. Protest actions were held in over 100 cities across the US, with 15,000 marching in LA and around 5,000 in New York.

In an indication of people's mood, when EQCA, Courage Campaign and other gay establishment orgs circulated their "return to the ballot in 2010 or 2012" poll, over 80% voted for 2010.

I'll post more reports when I have time to look for them later, but a good summary can be found here.
